NBC10 was on hand for the grand opening for Ryan's Rise Up Cafe in Glen Mills, Delaware County, on Saturday, June 6.
The non-profit coffee shop was started by the parents of 21-year-old Ryan Vail, who lives with Down Syndrome.
The shop has hired around 60 people with various abilities and aims to give them opportunities to make a living.
Ryan's father, Jim Vail, spoke about the impact the store is having on young people living with Down Syndrome and other disabilities.
"They come here and they see a young adult with a disability and they see what they're doing, and what they're capable of, and basically, 'Wow, this is a neat experience.' And they leave here with a totally different perspective," he said.
The shop is open 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, as well as 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
